BJP Stages ‘Satyagraha’ Alleging Deterioration of Law & Order in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The BJP staged a statewide “Satyagraha” in Odisha on Monday, accusing the ruling BJD of misgovernance, an increase in crimes against women, a rise in the criminalization of politics, and a deterioration of the law and order situation in the state.

As part of the protest campaign against the state administration, several BJP leaders and supporters gathered near the state party headquarters in Bhubaneswar and staged a sit-in. During the “Satyagraha,” similar demonstrations took place throughout the state.

The demonstrators charged the government with failing to uphold law and order and accused BJD leaders, including Ministers, of their involvement in murder, sexual assault, and other crimes.

State BJP president, Samir Mohanty and other senior party figures asserted that the state had seen an increase in crimes against women and that the BJD-led government had criminalised politics.

They said that during the 23 years of the BJD government, Odisha had transformed into a haven for criminals and anti-social elements, despite the fact that the state’s residents are peace-loving and proud of their heritage as followers of Jagannath.

However, Mohanty asserted that throughout the past 23 years, allegations of the involvement of BJD leaders, including Ministers, in homicide, sexual assault, and anti-woman activities have surfaced.

He harshly criticised the BJD government, claiming that the rise in crimes, particularly those committed against women, seemed to be the primary accomplishment of the local party.

He said the former minister Dibya Shankar Mishra’s involvement in the Mamita Meher murder case was under investigation and that the death of Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in the case, in Kantabanji jail has raised many questions because it occurred just before his scheduled court appearance.

The BJP attacked the BJD administration over the Mahanga double murder case and asserted that former Minister Pratap Jena’s involvement was under investigation. Unexpectedly, the main accused in the case was killed in a truck accident.

Additionally, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash was named by Gop Zilla Parishad member Dharmendra Sahoo who died by suicide earlier in September, in his last video, they asserted.
