BJP Workers-Police Faceoff In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: While leading a rally to the Naveen Nivas, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s residential office in Bhubaneswar, several BJP leaders and supporters got into a physical altercation with the police on Monday.

The BJP staged a march from the party office here to Naveen Nivas, seeking stringent action against the BJD leaders suspected of being involved in the Archana Nag sextortion case and the killing of Zilla Parishad Member of Nimapara Dharmendra Sahoo.

When the rally eventually arrived at Sishu Bhawan Square, police stopped it. When the BJP workers tried to breach the police perimeter, a scuffle broke out between the two.

A number of protesters were placed in preventative custody, as a result.

The commissionerate police has still its officials deployed on the spot to ease out the situation and prevent any untoward happenings.
