CM Naveen Dedicates ‘Brundabati Nivas’ At Puri For Habisyalis

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday inaugurated ‘Brundabati Nivas’ at Puri for Habisyalis.

On this occasion, Patnaik welcomed the Habisyalis and announced that they will be gifted one shawl each.

Expressing hope that the Habisyalis will observe Kartika Brat with peace and joy, the Chief Minister wished the blessings of Lord Jagannath for them and their families and the entire people of Odisha.

The district administration has come up with camps for Habisyalis at as many as five places and sheltered 2,935 devotees who observe the month-long ritual.

Kartika is the holiest of all the months in the Hindu lunar calendar that usually overlaps with the months of October and November in the English calendar. During this period, a large number of devotees especially widows (Habishyalis) come Puri to serve Lord Jagannath.
