CM Naveen Inaugurates PGIMER At Capital Hospital

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER) and Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar on Friday. The CM interacted with the 1st batch Post Graduate students of the institute.

He wished them all success for their future. Naveen advised them to abide by the 5T principles and render dedicated service to the patients.

The Government of Odisha approved the establishment of a Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research at Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar for imparting post graduate education in different clinical and non-clinical disciplines.

In the 1st phase, approval of National Medical Commission (NMC) has been obtained for opening 6 departments:

O&G (5 seats);
General Medicine (5 seats);
General Surgery (5 seats);
Orthopaedics (2 seats);
Paediatrics (4 seats); and
Pulmonary Medicine (3 seats), from the academic session 2022-23 with admission of 24 post graduate students.

Newly created posts of Director, Superintendent and faculties of the PG institute have been filled up and 24 PG students have also taken admission. A new academic block meant for the PG institute is being built up at a cost of Rs 284 crore. It is expected to be completed in by 2023 end.

The PGIMER at Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar will give a boost to availability of Specialist and Super Specialist services in the State Capital besides providing a platform for health research, the Health Department stated.
