Cuttack: Elderly Woman Hacked to Death Over Suspicion of Witchcraft

Cuttack: An elderly woman was reportedly slain in a shocking incident at Chandanpur of Garudagaon Panchayat under the Tangi Police Station limits in Cuttack on suspicion of practising witchcraft and endangering the lives of her fellow villagers.

As per reports, Baguna Purtty’s wife and kids in the village were frequently ill. However, Baguna always believed that his wife’s and kids’ illnesses were caused by Mina Chatar of his village employing witchcraft on them.

He said that they were never afflicted by any illness. As his conviction that Mina is using witchcraft on them became stronger, Baguna devised a plan and killed her this morning using a sharp weapon.

The Tangi police and a scientific team proceeded to the scene in response to a complaint made by Mina’s son. They seized the body and sent it for autopsy.

Police registered a complaint and launched a quest to find the accused while he was still trying to escape the village.
