Cyclone “Mandous” Likely To Form Over Bay of Bengal on Dec 8

Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic storm is predicted to be over the Bay of Bengal on December 8, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

According to the weather agency, a Low-Pressure Area has developed over the south Andaman Sea and the surrounding area due to cyclonic activity over the area and the adjacent equatorial Indian Ocean and Strait of Malacca.

The cyclonic system, however, will have no direct impacts on Odisha, the regional meteorological centre of IMD clarified.

By the evening of December 6, it is expected to travel west-northwestward and concentrate into a Depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal.

It is then anticipated to keep moving west-northwestward, gradually strengthen into a cyclonic storm, and make landfall in the south-western Bay of Bengal on the morning of December 8 near the beaches of north Tamil Nadu—Puducherry and adjacent south Andhra Pradesh.
