Bhubaneswar: Prior to the November 3 by-election to the Dhamnagar assembly sector, the Odisha government has issued transfer orders for the Block Development Officers (BDOs) of Dhamnagar and Tihidi in the Bhadrak district.

On Friday, the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department published a notification announcing the BDOs’ transfer.

Due to the scheduled by-election for the Dhamnagar Assembly seat, the Bhadrak district collector has been directed to immediately relieve Dhamnagar BDO Durga Charan Murmu and Tihidi BDO Basant Sahani.

While Kesinga tehsildar Jyotirmaya Kar of Kalahandi would join as Tihidi BDO, Laxmipur tehsildar Banabihari Dinda of Koraput will be deployed as BDO in Dhamnagar.

Consequently, the two Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officers have been asked to leave their positions immediately by the collectors of Koraput and Kalahandi.

The Dhamnagar Assembly constituency will hold a by-election, according to a notification released on Friday by Sub-Collector, Bhadrak’s office.
