Dhamnagar By-Poll: BJP Names Suraj Suryavanshi As Its Candidate

Bhubaneswar: As the Dhamnagar by-election inching closer, the BJP on Sunday declared Suraj Suryavanshi as its candidate. Suraj is the son of former MLA late Bishnu Sethi.

As per the notification by the office of Sub-Collector, Bhadrak, the last date for filing nomination papers is October 14 (Friday). The candidates can withdraw their candidature on October 17 (Monday).

The bypoll will be held on November 3 (Thursday). The counting of votes will take place on November 6 (Sunday).

The seat of Dhamnagar is lying vacant since September 19 following the demise of BJP MLA Bishnu Charan Sethi, who passed away while undergoing treatment at the AIIMS Bhubaneswar.

The ruling BJD and Congress are likely to announce their candidates within a couple of days.
