Nabarangpur: A severe diarrhoea outbreak has claimed three lives in Chepatiamba village, located in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district, within the last 18 days.
The latest victim, Madhu Jani (27), died early this morning while receiving treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital.
Several other villagers are reportedly affected by the disease. Yesterday, five-year-old Pallavi Jani was admitted in critical condition to the Jharigaon Community Health Centre. Another woman, Mugai Jani, was also rushed to the same health facility this morning in a serious state.
The health department has set up round-the-clock medical services in Chepatiamba, yet locals have raised concerns over the lack of medical personnel after 4 AM, with only an ambulance and driver available in emergencies. Villagers have also criticised the deployment of only Ayush doctors at the site and the absence of MBBS doctors at the Jharigaon Community Health Centre.
Residents are urging the district administration to address the situation promptly and ensure proper medical care for the affected areas as the number of cases continues to rise.
