Ganjam Woman Murdered over suspicion of Witchcraft

Ganjam: A woman was allegedly killed by fellow superstitious villagers, who suspected her to be practicing witchcraft in Madhurjhol village of Kabisurjyanagar area of Ganjam district.

The deceased was identified as Jhunu Nahak.

According to sources, the villagers of the Madhurjhol village entered the Jhunu’s house at night and beat her to death.

The reason behind this inhuman murder is quite surprising. During last few months, there were 10 to 12 sudden deaths in the village. The villagers suspected that all this happened because of witchcraft. Superstitious villagers suspected that Jhunu Nahak‘s husband Judhistir Nahak’s witchcraft was behind it. Previously, they had also beaten four people suspecting them to be black magic practitioners.

A complaint regarding it has been filed in the police station by Judhistir Nahak.
