Himanshu Sekhar Sahu Rejoins BJP After Winning Dharmasala Assembly Seat as Independent

Bhubaneswar: Himanshu Sekhar Sahu, who was recently expelled from the BJP, has now rejoined the party following his victory in the Dharmasala Assembly seat as an Independent candidate.

Upon rejoining the party, Sahu stated that he had always intended to return after winning the election. He said that his decision to contest independently was driven by his commitment to advocate for the rights of the Dalit and downtrodden communities in the 54 panchayats of Dharmasala.

Sahu met with Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Dhamanagar MLA Suraj Suryavansi before formally rejoining the BJP. He had originally sought to contest the election on the BJP ticket but chose to run independently after not receiving the party’s nomination.

Sahu secured victory over BJD heavyweight Pranab Balbantray by a significant margin of over 4,000 votes.
