Bhubaneswar: Over the 24-year tenure of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo Naveen Patnaik as Chief Minister, his home constituency of Hinjili in Ganjam district recorded 100 murders, according to data shared in the Odisha Assembly on Monday.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi revealed these statistics in response to a query by BJP MLA Pradyumna Kumar Nayak. The data indicated that 328 individuals have been arrested in connection with these murder cases. However, convictions were secured in only two cases, with acquittals in 22 cases and 69 cases still pending in court.
Additionally, Majhi disclosed that Ganjam district saw 37 police encounters, resulting in bullet injuries to 63 police personnel and the death of 41 criminals.
