It Was An Intentional Firing To Kill: Brajarajnagar IIC in FIR

Jharsuguda: Whereas the exact reason behind Odisha Health Minister Naba Das’s murder is still unknown, the FIR filed by the IIC of the Brajarajnagar police station makes it apparent that the accused Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), Gopal Krushna Das, fired at the minister “with a clear intention to kill.”

According to the FIR filed by Pradyumna Swain, the IIC of Brajarajnagar Police station, the Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das was set to inaugurate the Office of Chairperson/Vice Chairperson of Brajrajnagar in the Lift and Shift Building at Gandhi Chowk on Sunday.

Around 12:15 pm, Minister Naba Das’ car stopped close to the event. The ASI Gopal Krushna Das, who was on duty to clear traffic, rapidly approached Minister Das when he opened the front passenger door and exited the car. He opened fire at the minister from a very close range with his service revolver with a clear intention to kill him.

According to the FIR, the Minister was struck by bullets in the chest and fell to the ground.

The accused ASI was apprehended by the Rampur Police Outpost constable KC Pradhan and the Brajarajnagar IIC. However, amid the struggle, the alleged ASI Gopal Krushna Das fired two more shots from his 9 mm revolver.

In the second round of firing, the IIC also sustained minor injuries to his finger. Jibanlal Nayak, another man from Kalinagar, was hurt as well. After a considerable wrangle, the IIC and Constable KC Pradhan were able to overpower the attacker ASI and take his weapons away.
