JE Nabbed For Accepting Rs 50K Bribe From Contractor In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday arrested a Junior Engineer on charges of bribery in Bhubaneswar.

According to the Vigilance officials, JE, Ramakanta Behera was apprehended while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a contractor.

Behera works as a JE in Bhubaneswar Block. He had demanded money from the contractor to clear his pending bills.

“The entire bribe money of Rs 50,000 has been recovered from the possession of Behera and seized. In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance has registered a case,” the Vigilance stated.

Investigation in progress in this matter. Following the trap, simultaneous house searches are going on the premises of the JE over alleged possession of disproportionate assets, the anti-corruption agency added.
