Junior Engineer Caught Taking Rs 7k Bribe In Ganjam

Ganjam: The Odisha Vigilance on Friday apprehended a Junior Engineer (JE) of Beguniapada Block in Ganjam district while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 7,000.

The accused has been identified as Sudhansu Sekhar Mallick.

According to reports, Mallick had demanded Rs 7,000 from a Complainant (Beneficiary under “Mo Guhal Scheme”) for facilitating the release of material costs towards the construction of a cattle Shed in favour of the complainant.

On the basis of the complaint, Vigilance laid a trap and caught Mallick with the bribe money. The entire bribe amount of Rs 7,000 has been recovered from him and seized.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations associated with Mallick.

In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance PS Case (16/2022) U/s 7 P.C (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation in progress against accused Mallick, the Vigilance said.
