Man Bludgeons Wife To Death In Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: A man allegedly bludgeoned his wife to death following a spat between the two over family issues at Ambaplash village under Parjang police limits of Dhenkanal district, police said on Saturday.

The deceased woman has been identified as Mamata Khatua.

Parjang police have seized Mamata’s body and detained her husband Astama Khatua and his elder brother Shiva Khatua.

According to reports, five years back Astama had married Mamata.It was his second marriage. Over the last couple of days the couple had regular fights and often ended up in the police station.

Following a spat between Astama and his wife last night, in a fit of rage, a drunk Astama hit his Mamata with a club leading to her death instantaneously.

In the morning today, Astama and his elder brother Shiva had taken Mamata’s body to the forest behind their house for cremation.

Acting on a tip-off, Parjang police rushed to the spot and seized the body. While the police have detained Astama and Shiva at the Parjang police station a scientific team of the police have been pressed into service to collect evidence.
