Man Detained For Climbing Puri Jagannath Temple Atop

Puri: A man has been detained by Singhadwar police for climbing atop the Nilachakra of the Jagannath temple in Puri on Wednesday.

The man who was identified as one of the servitors of the Agneeswar temple, Chandrasekhar Panda was rescued by police after a tiring operation.

According to reports, Panda was sighted atop the 214 feet high temple near the Neela Chakra by Chunra servitors.

Panda was repeatedly requested by the police and Jagannath Temple Police (JTP) to climb down.

However, after remaining adamant for some time, Panda climbed down through the roof of Dakshini ghar in front of the Mukti Mandap. He has been detained and is being interrogated by the police.
