Massive Fire Breaks Out at a Hospital in Angul; Medicines Worth Lakhs Gutted

Angul: A massive fire broke out at the Kishorenagar Community Health Centre’s (CHC) drug house on Friday. The fire reportedly destroyed lakhs of rupees worth of medicines.

As per accounts, some employees initially detected smoke coming from the drug house in the morning and reported it to higher authorities, who subsequently called the Fire Department.

Patients and their attendants fled the area while protecting their faces, as the fire quickly spread throughout the entire floor and dense plumes of smoke engulfed it.

Personnel from the local Fire Department arrived at the scene and extinguished the flame. However, by the time the fire was doused, medicines worth lakhs of rupees were already reduced to ashes.

An electrical short circuit is thought to be the fire’s likely cause, albeit the specific cause has not yet been determined.
