Medical Apathy In Cuttack: Patient Treated Under Mobile Flashlight In Auto-Rickshaw

Cuttack: In a shocking incident being reported from Niali, Cuttack, a patient was discovered receiving care inside an auto-rickshaw on Thursday night, while illuminated by a portable flashlight at Niali Community Health Center (CHC) in the Cuttack district. The incident came to the forefront after the incident’s video went viral online.

According to reports, Sheikh Sajid of the Niali neighborhood’s Purba Khanda slum transported his father to Niali CHC in an auto-rickshaw. The two beds at the CHC were already taken when Sajid arrived. The medics were forced to treat his father inside the auto-rickshaw as a result.

Dr. S Navin, the CHC’s medical superintendent, acknowledged the occurrence and expressed his worry. According to him, the patient insisted on receiving care inside the auto-rickshaw.

Since the beds at the CHC were full, he instructed the medical staff to refer patients to other hospitals close by. He added that a new building is being built and that the healthcare service has been impacted by inadequate infrastructure.
