Minor Boy Drowns in Subarnarekha River in Odisha’s Balasore, 2 Others Critical

Balasore: A tragic incident unfolded in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday as a young boy lost his life while bathing in the Subarnarekha River.

The victim, identified as Tapas Rana, drowned near Sardarsahi of Asti panchayat, falling under the jurisdiction of Baliapal police.

Tapas, along with two friends, ventured into the swollen river following heavy rain in the upper catchment area. The strong current swept all three away.

Locals, alerted by their cries for help, managed to rescue the boys in critical condition. Unfortunately, Tapas was found dead at the scene, while the other two were rushed to Baliapal’s Community Health Centre (CHC), where their condition remains critical.
