Bhadrak: A young man who had been missing for two days was discovered dead in a canal near a village under the Chandbali police jurisdiction in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Sukant Das, aged 22, from the same village.
Sukant had gone out with friends to play video games on October 13 and went missing around 8 PM. His family members reported his disappearance to the Chandbali police a day later, following a night-long search for him. During their investigation, the police were able to track the location of his phone in and around the village. The mobile phone was subsequently found in an agricultural field.
Villagers noticed a body floating in the canal, which connects to the Salandi River, and promptly alerted the police. After retrieving the body, it was identified as that of Sukant by his family members, who also alleged that he had been murdered and thrown into the water.
The police have sent the body for postmortem examination and have initiated an investigation into the matter.
