Nigerian man, Naga wife held from New Delhi for honey-trapping Balasore man

Balasore: Two more persons including a Nigerian national have been arrested from New Delhi in connection with a cyber fraud case in which a local from Balia area here was honey trapped and then duped of Rs 30 lakh.

The held accused duo has been identified as Emmanuel Nnamani and his wife T Suchim Tikhir, a native of Nagaland. They were arrested from Delhi’s Maidangari area by Cyber Crime & Economic Offence Police of Balasore.

During the raid the Cyber Police also seized a car, two laptops, one dongle, fake passports, bank passbook and two gold necklaces from the accused’s possession.

Worth mentioning, the victim who happens to be a government employee had been befriended by a woman from United Kingdom on Facebook. As their proximity grew they indulged in Whatsapp chat subsequently.

A few days later the UK woman informed the victim that she had sent expensive gifts to him including gold biscuit, Rolex watch and I-Phone. He also received a call from an unidentified man claiming to be a Custom Officer from Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) regarding the delivery of the items, who demanded for Custom’s charge.

In his complaint to Balasore Cyber Police on January 13, 2022 the victim alleged that he deposited Rs 30 lakh in different instances the caller didn’t handover his items. Then he realized to be cheated.

Based on the complaint the Cyber Police had arrested a Nigerians namely Samson Emeke Alika earlier. During the further course of investigation his two other aides were held.
