Odisha Shines with 2 Awards at World Skills Competition in France; CM Majhi Congratulates Winners

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s skilled youth have once again brought glory to the state on the global stage. Amaresh Kumar Sahu and Gedela Akhil, representing the state at the 47th World Skills Competition held in France’s Lyon have secured prestigious medals for their outstanding achievements.

Sahu clinched the Bronze Medal in Renewable Energy, while Akhil secured a Medallion for Excellence in Water Technology, showcasing Odisha’s talent on an international stage.

Expressing his pride, CM Mohan Majhi said, “The accomplishments of Amaresh Kumar Sahu and Gedela Akhil are a testament to Odisha’s dedication to nurturing globally competitive skills. Their success is an inspiration for our youth and a milestone in the state’s journey towards leadership in skill development.”

Sahu, hailing from Deogarh District, is pursuing a Diploma in Mechatronics at the Central Tool Room & Training Centre (CTTC), Bhubaneswar. Akhil is enrolled in the BTech Civil Engineering programme at CV Raman Global University, Bhubaneswar. Both were trained by international experts—Sahu in Vietnam and Akhil by a mentor from South Africa.

The World Skills Competition, a prestigious event with over 80 participating nations, saw 15 of India’s 60 competitors coming from Odisha, reinforcing the state’s leadership in skill development.

Odisha’s World Skill Center in Bhubaneswar played a pivotal role in preparing participants for the rigorous three-tier selection process for this global event.
