Odisha CM Felicitates Two Families Of Ganjam With Suraj Award 2022

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday awarded Suraj Award for 2022 to Sushil Sahu and Siddhi Samriddhi of Ganjam district.

The Odisha government announced 2019 an annual award in the name of Suraj to promote organ donation.

Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha presented cheque of worth Rs 5 lakh each to the wife of Sushil and father of Siddhi.

Suraj, a resident of Ganjam district was declared brain dead on November 2, 2019 by the doctors after which his parents decided to donate his organs to save lives of others. Accordingly, his heart, liver, two kidneys and both eyes were transplanted to save six lives.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Patnaik stated that the society is indebted to the parents of both Sushil and Siddhi Samruddhi.

Patnaik urged people to do such good deeds and become the inspiration for building a  good society.

The Chief Minister said that organ donation has created new hope for several families. Saving the life of others is the noblest of acts, he added.
