Odisha’s New Chief Minister to Take Oath at 4:45 PM on June 12, PM Modi to Attend

Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) clinched a resounding victory in Odisha’s recent elections, securing a dominant position with 79 out of 147 Assembly seats and 20 out of 21 Lok Sabha seats. Following this triumph, the stage is set for the swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister, scheduled for June 12 at 4:45 pm.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to grace the occasion. Tight security measures have been put in place, given the high-profile attendance expected, with a special focus on the Prime Minister’s itinerary.

According to Twin City Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda, meticulous security arrangements have been made, with daily sanitization of the venue, Janata Maidan, and thorough checks of all hotels in the vicinity. Prime Minister Modi is expected to arrive in Bhubaneswar at approximately 2:10 pm on June 12, proceeding directly to the Odisha Raj Bhavan before heading to the ceremony venue.

Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal revealed that the party’s legislative meeting is scheduled for June 11, preceding the oath-taking ceremony the following day. Notably, the event is expected to draw Chief Ministers from various states and other distinguished personalities.

Samal, when questioned about his potential candidacy for the Chief Minister’s post, expressed pride in the BJP’s achievement and deferred to the Parliamentary party’s decision-making process.
