Odisha Congress Holds ‘Annaprashana’ for Offspring Resulting from BJD-BJP Marriage

Bhubaneswar: In a symbolic gesture aimed at highlighting the perceived pre-existing backdoor alliance between the ruling BJD and opposition BJP in Odisha, the state Congress staged a mock wedding between the two parties on January 25. Now, in a follow-up move, the Congress has organized an ‘Annaprashana’ ceremony for ten metaphorical “children” born out of this supposed political union.

Scheduled to take place at Congress Bhawan in the state capital today, the event is intended to highlight the alleged close ties between the BJD and BJP.

Official sources suggest that the earlier mock wedding was orchestrated to formalize the perceived understanding between the two parties. Now, the Congress is taking it a step further by symbolically celebrating the ‘Annaprashana’ ritual, which marks an infant’s first intake of solid food, for the ten issues emblematic of their supposed political alliance.

These issues include concerns such as the mining scam, chit fund scam, inflation, violence against women, exploitation of middlemen, rising crimes against women, irregularities in government schemes, acquisition of tribal land, power shortages, and allegations of government job sales.
