Higher Secondary Schools in Odisha May See Expansion in Plus 2 Seats Following Stellar Matriculation Results

Bhubaneswar:The Odisha government is considering increasing the number of seats for Plus 2 courses in higher secondary schools after achieving an impressive 96.4% pass percentage in the annual Matriculation examination.

The results, declared on May 18, showcased a significant improvement compared to last year’s pass percentage of 90.55%.

School and Mass Education Minister Pramila Mallik shared this information and assured the public that necessary measures would be taken to ensure that students do not face any difficulties. Mallik also mentioned upcoming changes in the summative I and II examinations and the commencement of the form fill-up process for the supplementary examination to prevent students from losing an entire academic year.

This year, the overall pass percentage for the Matriculation examination in Odisha reached 96.4%, a notable improvement from the 90.55% recorded last year. Among the successful candidates, 4,158 achieved an A1 grade, 29,838 secured an A2 grade, 77,567 obtained a B1 grade, and 118,750 received a B2 grade. The pass percentage for boys stood at 95.75%, while girls achieved a pass percentage of 97.05%. Impressively, 3,222 schools achieved a cent percent pass rate. Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur districts registered the highest pass percentage in the state, reaching 97.99%. Conversely, the tribal-dominated Malkangiri district reported the lowest pass percentage, standing at 92.68%.

The Matriculation examination was conducted from March 10 to 20, with approximately 5.32 lakh students appearing in 3,218 examination centers across the state of Odisha.
