Odisha Govt Assures To Fulfill Its Contractual Employees’ Demands

Bhubaneswar: A month-long stalemate of thousands of contractual employees working in different Odisha government departments is about to come to an end as Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik assured to find a solution to the formers’ demands.

According to reports, the CM held a round of discussions with the Odisha Government Contractual Employees Association (OGCEA) on Thursday and assured them of abolishing the contractual system within a month.

After having discussions with the association, which demanded uniform service rules for all categories of employees, CM Patnaik said that he will take adequate steps to find the solution to their month-long demand.

On the other hand, the union also said that if the government does not take any decision within the next month, it will launch further action.

During this discussion, 5T secretary VK Pandian and Jajpur MLA Pranab Prakash Das were present.

Reportedly, thousands of contractual employees working in different Odisha government departments on September 11 staged a massive demonstration here demanding total abolition of the contractual appointment system in the state administration.

The members of the Odisha Government Contractual Employees Association (OGCEA) including teachers, police, assistants, and other Class-III posts from across the state assembled at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg here amid heavy rain and demanded uniform service rules for all categories of employees and abolition of the contractual appointment in the government.
