Odisha Braces For Scorching Heat & Humidity From April 2nd

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre in Bhubaneswar has forecasted a rise in temperatures across several districts of Odisha starting from April 2nd. A cyclonic circulation over north Chhattisgarh and its neighbouring areas is expected to weaken, leading to a rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures.

According to the IMD’s mid-day bulletin, maximum temperatures have seen a notable increase in a few places in South Interior Odisha, while minimum temperatures have fallen in some areas of South Coastal Odisha and North Interior Odisha. The prevailing weather conditions indicate hot and humid weather across the state from April 2nd to 6th, with temperatures likely to be above normal.

The forecast suggests a significant rise in maximum temperatures by 4°C to 5°C in the next two days, with a gradual increase thereafter. Minimum temperatures, however, are expected to remain relatively stable in the next two days but may rise by 2°C to 3°C in subsequent days.

The highest maximum temperature recorded was 41.0°C in Malkangiri, while the lowest minimum temperature stood at 20.0°C in Phulbani.

For the next two days, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected in select districts including Nuapada, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, and others, while dry weather is likely to prevail in the rest of Odisha.
