Retired Odisha Officer’s Assets Worth Over ₹1 Crore Seized in Graft Case

Bhubaneswar: A Special Court in Bhubaneswar ordered the confiscation of assets worth Rs 1.07 crore belonging to a retired Soil Conservation Officer (SCO) on Monday.

The former SCO, Dasarathi Tripathy, who served in Malkangiri district, was convicted in a graft case filed by the Odisha Vigilance Department.

According to reports, Tripathy was chargesheeted by the Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act, 1988. The charges stemmed from possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Following a thorough investigation, the Special Court Judge had pronounced Tripathy guilty on July 24, 2019. The latest order pertains to the confiscation of his ill-gotten assets, valued at over Rs 1,07,66,430.
