Bhubaneswar: On Monday, the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Odisha, in a tweet asserted that the state government will continue to administer free COVID-19 precaution doses until the vaccine stock lasts.

The free vaccine drive, initially planned for 75-days, was launched as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration and was supposed to end on September 30.
Dr. Bijay Panigrahy, Director of Family Welfare and nodal officer of covid vaccination informed that there is no communication from the ministry on discontinuance, the districts have been asked to continue administering the dose for free until the stocks last.
Sources revealed that around 38% (1.23 Cr) people have taken their precaution dose so far of the 3.25 Cr adults, who were fully vaccinated.
Even though the State’s second dose coverage is 94 percent, it is lower than average in some districts, including, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Cuttack, Angul, and Sundargarh.
Meanwhile, the people who are yet to be jabbed the second time count up to 23 lakh.
