Odisha Plans Triple City: Cuttack-Bhubaneswar-Puri To Become Mega Urban Corridor

Bhubaneswar: The newly elected BJP-led government in Odisha has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform the Twin Cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar into Triple Cities by incorporating the holy city of Puri. Housing & Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra announced this landmark decision, aiming to create a world-class urban centre.

The development plan includes metro rail expansion connecting Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and Puri, along with enhanced public transportation and road infrastructure. Improved healthcare facilities, large-scale tree-planting initiatives, and an urban traffic system revamp are also key components of the project.

Minister Mahapatra emphasized the potential economic benefits of this urban transformation. The plan is expected to create a financial hub, increase job opportunities, attract entrepreneurs and investors, and reduce labour migration to other states.

The government also intends to develop Puri and Paradip as tourism and industrial hubs, drawing inspiration from Goa’s success model. This ambitious project aims to position Odisha as a model state on the global stage, leveraging the holy city of Puri’s international recognition to boost the region’s profile and economic prospects.
