Shivering Odisha: Bhubaneswar, Cuttack Dip Below 20°C, Kirei Records State’s Lowest at 6.7°C

Bhubaneswar: Night temperatures in Odisha’s twin cities have fallen below 20 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours, as per the latest update from the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday. Bhubaneswar saw temperatures drop to 17.5 degrees Celsius, while Cuttack recorded 16.5 degrees Celsius.

Despite the IMD’s forecast of a possible decrease in minimum temperatures across Odisha, several areas experienced significant drops. Kirei in Sundargarh district recorded a chilling 6.7 degrees Celsius, followed by Jharsuguda at 9.1 degrees Celsius, and Sundargarh at 9.2 degrees Celsius. Rourkela saw temperatures dip to 9.9 degrees Celsius, while G Udayagiri in Kandhamal recorded 10.4 degrees Celsius. Koraput, which also witnessed dense fog, experienced temperatures of 11.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Keonjhar at 11.5 degrees Celsius.

According to the weather agency, there may not be a significant change in night temperatures over the next 24 hours. However, a gradual increase of 2-4 degrees Celsius is expected over the subsequent three days.

Light rain is also predicted in certain areas. Until 8:30 AM on February 10, there may be light rain in Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, and Koraput. The rain is expected to resume on February 11 in Nuapada, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, and Jajpur districts. On February 12, light rain is likely in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Dhenkanal. Dry weather is anticipated for the following two days, with light rain expected in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Deogarh on February 15.
