Odisha Woman Sentenced to Life for Killing Infant Son

Mayurbhanj: A court in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district sentenced a 30-year-old woman to life imprisonment for killing her one-and-a-half-month-old son.

Rairangpur Additional District and Sessions Judge V Sujata delivered the verdict after Parbati Naik was found guilty of killing her child during a domestic dispute with her husband.

The incident took place on September 10 last year when Naik’s husband went to the market and his first wife was in the paddy field. In a fit of rage, Naik strangled her son and disposed of his body in a nearby pond.

The child’s father later filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Bisoi police station, leading to Naik’s arrest and the subsequent filing of a murder charge.
