Police Likely To Seek Remand Of Bhubaneswar’s ‘Serial Extortionist’

Bhubaneswar: Commisionerate Police is likely to move the concerned court seeking remand of the arrested woman blackmailer and extortionist.

Speaking to media persons on Sunday, Bhubaneswar DCP, Prateek Singh said that the chats and phone conversations of this woman are under scanner.’

“A notice will be issued to the accused’s husband to probe his role in the alleged blackmailing incidents. He is reportedly sick and will soon be called for examination,” The DCP said.

“As the investigation progresses, the police will probe into the woman’s financial transactions, assets and other deals. The financial angle is a major part of this probe, apart from telephonic conversations and exchange of text messages,” the DCP added.

Reportedly, the police have arrested her for allegedly blackmailing and extorting money from prominent figures like movie producers and politicians in Bhubaneswar.

According to insiders, she used to extort money from high-profile people including politicians, ministers, and film producers making serious accusations against them.

Sources reveal, she was being monitored by the police since 2021. Notably, she was the subject of at least three cases with two of those cases coming this year.
