Prakruti Mishra Files NCR Against Odia Film Producer Sanjay Nayak for Defamation & Intimidation

Mumbai: Odia actress Prakruti Mishra made headlines with her bold statements regarding the casting couch issue in the media. Taking a step further, she has now filed a Non-Cognizable Offence Information Report (NCR) against film producer Sanjay Nayak, also known as Tutu Nayak, at the Dadabhai Naoroji Nagar police station in Andheri West, Mumbai.

According to reports, Prakruti’s written complaint has led to the registration of a case against Sanjay Nayak under Sections 500 (defamation), 504 (intentional insult to provoke), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The casting couch issue in the Odia film industry has gained prominence due to Prakruti’s serious allegations against producer Nayak. During an interview with a regional news channel, Prakruti revealed that Nayak exploits new and aspiring artists by making false promises of providing them with opportunities in his upcoming films.

Prakruti stated that after the shooting of a film is completed at night, Nayak coerces newcomers into compromising. If they refuse, he replaces them with other artists. Although she personally hasn’t faced such a situation, Prakruti learned about these casting couch incidents from the victims.

In response to these allegations, producer Nayak held a press conference where he denied the claims and announced his intention to file a defamation case against Prakruti and others involved.

It’s worth noting that another Odia actress, Jasmine Rath, had previously levelled similar accusations against Nayak, stating that she was removed from a project after refusing to meet him at a club in Bhubaneswar.

In his defence, Nayak stated that he decided to drop Jasmine from the film because her “male friend” contacted him to manage her schedule, which he deemed unprofessional. He also dismissed the allegation of requesting a meeting with the actress.
