Puri Gears Up for Srimandir Parikrama Project Opening: Tight Security Blankets Pilgrim Town

Puri: The Odisha Police has implemented robust security measures for the grand opening of the Srimandir Parikrama Project scheduled for January 17, 2024. Two distinct security protocols will be enforced, with one in effect until January 16 and a heightened arrangement for the main event and the following day.

A total of 44 police platoons will be deployed to manage security, traffic, and other logistics from the current date until January 16. Oversight will be provided by five Additional SPs, 10 DSPs, and 30 Inspector-rank officers, as stated by Central Range IG Asish Singh.

The security focus will centre on key areas, particularly ensuring a hassle-free darshan for devotees at Puri Srimandir. Special forces have been assigned, and additional personnel will be stationed around the temple and its entrances.

To enhance security measures, CCTV cameras, Anti-Sabotage and Surveillance teams, trained officers, and K9 squads from different districts will be deployed. Face reading through 135 cameras, equipped with facial recognition and eye technology, will be actively monitored from the control unit. Additionally, four specially trained response teams will be on standby to address any observed or reported issues via CCTV.

The security arrangement will operate round-the-clock until the arrival of dignitaries and the completion of the Parikrama Project inauguration. The goal is to ensure a secure and smooth experience for devotees during the significant event.
