Puri Srimandir Stampede-Like Situation Near Paschima Dwar

Puri: Amid a huge crowd thronging the famous Puri Srimandir, a stampede-like situation occurred here on the auspicious occasion of Sankranti.

A few devotees suffered minor injuries in a stampede-like situation at the Jagannath temple in Puri. However, there have been no reports of any casualties or major mishaps.

While the commotion was intense in the midst of religious fervour, many devotees felt suffocated and one among them fell on the ground.

A woman devotee was shifted to a shelter and administered first aid.

Reports said the temple administration had allowed entry of devotees from both east and west gates owing to the huge footfall of devotees.
