‘Ravana Podi’ To Be Held At 4 Places In Bhubaneswar, DCP Issues Guidelines

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to conduct Ravana Podi (burning of demon Ravana’s effigy) smoothly in Bhubaneswar, as many as five platoons of the police force will be deployed, informed by Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner (DCP) Prateek Singh on Wednesday.

As per DCP Singh, the spectacular event, which marks the end of the Durga Puja festival, will be held in Baramunda, Jharapada, Koradakanta and Pahala areas of Bhubaneswar.

In addition to these 28 guidelines have been issued for Ravan Podi celebrations.

“No person will be allowed within the 100-meter zone of Ravana Podi. The crackers to be used in Ravan Podi should be purchased from licensed cracker vendors.Barricades have been erected for safety,” Singh said.

The Odisha Fire Service after doing a fire safety audit has given the go-ahead to Baramunda, Jharpada, Koradakanta and Pahala puja mandaps in Bhubaneswar for Ravan Podi so far.

Also, the Twin City Commissionerate Police will impose some traffic restrictions in Bhubaneswar today in view of the possible traffic jam problems.
