SHG Workers In Dhenkanal Village Allege Group Secy Siphoning Off Subsidised Rice

Dhenkanal: While the Odisha government is trying its best to facilitate all development schemes for the citizens of the state, there are several places where corruption is playing spoilsport.

Meanwhile, such a matter has come to the fore after some women workers of a Self-Help Group (SHG) at Kanpura village under Kamakhya Nagar block in Dhenkanal district.

They alleged that the SHG group–Maa Mangala Swayam Sahayak Gosthi secretary is siphoning off the subsidised rice (PDS) using the ration cards of deceased persons.

Meeting the District Sub-Collector, Jyotishankar Sahoo on Saturday, the workers have alleged that the secretary of the group, Jyotshnamayee Biswal is making blackout of the PDS rice in the names of various deceased persons, who were on the list earlier.

“We have complained about the PDS rice distribution issue in our village. SHG group secretary Jyotshnamayee Biswal Jyotshnamayee Biswal uses the ration cards of deceased persons. Though we warned her about such a scam, she abused and threatened us,” said, Dali Rout, an SHG worker.

Speaking regarding this, Sub-Collector Sahoo said that we have informed the matter to Supply Officer and after a proper investigation, action will be taken soon.
