Sub-Inspector Swagatika Death Case: G Udayagiri IIC Transferred

Cuttack: G Udayagiri police station inspector in-Charge (IIC) Rebati Sabar was on Sunday transferred in connection with the death case of woman Sub-Inspector Swagatika Behera.

According to reports, Sabar was transferred following the allegation of the deceased’s family members.

They staged a dharna in front of G. Udayagiri police station demanding the arrest of Rebati Sabar, Inspector In-Charge (IIC) of the police station today.

Holding Sabar responsible for Swagatika’s death, her family members also demanded her dismissal from police service.

On learning about this, local Tahasildar, DSP and SDPO reached the place and tried to convince the family members to withdraw the dharna, but in vain.

Earlier last night, the SI’s mother and brother met G Udayagiri Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) and filed a complaint against the IIC.

In the complaint, they alleged that Sabar was torturing Swagatika mentally, for which she took the extreme step.

Notably, Swagatika, who hailed from Nirakarpur in Khordha district, was found hanging from the ceiling of her quarter in G Udayagiri last morning.
