Tata Power-Led Odisha Discoms Award ₹11,481 Crore Contracts to Over 6600 Local Vendors

Bhubaneswar: Tata Power-led Odisha Discoms have awarded contracts worth ₹11,481 crore to local contractors and suppliers as part of their continued commitment to Odisha’s economic development.

These joint ventures between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha have actively supported the local economy by granting ₹8,690 crore in contracts to local MSMEs and ₹2,791 crore to non-MSMEs over the past three years since taking over the state’s power distribution operations.

The contracts have been split into two main categories: materials and services. The Odisha Discoms—TP Central, TP Southern, TP Northern, and TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited—have partnered with 6,645 local vendors and suppliers.

These partnerships are key to daily operations, with a special focus on employing residents from the nearby areas. For services like meter reading, billing, and network maintenance, 4,347 vendors were awarded contracts worth ₹7,560 crore. Meanwhile, for materials such as Distribution Transformers, Cables, and Poles, 2,298 contracts worth ₹3,921 crore were assigned.

Contracts in the materials sector cover critical equipment such as transformers, cables, and hardware, while in the service sector, they include tasks like meter installation, billing, call center operations, and various administrative roles.

This initiative aligns with the state’s “Make in Odisha” vision and has become a key driver of Odisha’s economic growth by transforming the local business landscape and contributing significantly to the prosperity of local communities.
