Tata Steel Kalinganagar Observes National Disaster Reduction Day With Full-Scale Mock Drill

Kalinganagar: Observing ‘National Disaster Reduction Day’, Tata Steel Kalinganagar organised a full-scale mock drill in its plant at Kalinganagar on Saturday.

The full-scale mock drill was organised to see its response capability toward potential gas leak scenario from Propane Storage Yard inside the plant.

This meant that while no gas leak actually took place, the mock drill entailed the creation of simulated conditions on various aspects to test the readiness of different teams including the Fire Brigade, Medical, Security & Operations.

During the mock drill, the teams were expected to reach the site within defined timelines, ensure the evacuation of personnel from the designated site, timely monitor and containment the simulated crisis and take note of practical learnings to address the real-time situation.

The mock drill was organised by the Safety Department of Tata Steel Kalinganagar.

It may be noted here that Tata Steel Kalinganagar periodically organises such mock drills inside the plant premises with the objective to test and improve emergency preparedness in the plant.
