1,36,000 Rural People Benefited By TPNODL Mobile Health Dispenses

Balasore: In a demonstration of their commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Odisha Government, has undertaken an initiative to provide essential healthcare services to local communities in five districts of Odisha – Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur.

To reach remote rural areas where Public Health Centres (PHCs) or Community Health Centres (CHCs) are scarce, TPNODL has deployed four Mobile Health Dispensaries (MHDs). These mobile units are equipped with qualified MBBS doctors, pharmacists, and nurses who provide free consultations and medicines directly to the community.

The healthcare teams address a range of common ailments, including colds, coughs, fevers, headaches, dengue, malaria, and other diseases. Prior to each health camp, TPNODL collaborates with local Line Men and Junior Engineers from the respective Electrical Divisions to inform the community about the upcoming camp, ensuring widespread awareness.

In addition to medical services, the initiative includes Health Awareness Campaigns conducted in rural villages across the five districts, aimed at educating community members about preventive measures against critical diseases. Over 40,000 individuals have been made aware of these preventive strategies.

TPNODL’s dedication to this cause is evident in the numbers: they have organized more than 1,050 health camps, providing treatment and free medicines to 96,000 patients. In total, over 136,000 rural residents have benefited from this program.

Sri Bhaskar Sarkar, CEO of TPNODL, emphasized the company’s commitment to the well-being of Northern Odisha’s communities. He stated that TPNODL aligns with the Tata Group’s principles, focusing on transforming lives in the region through CSR activities that encompass vocational training, livelihood support, employment generation, women’s empowerment, medical facilities, and education for underprivileged children.
