Tusker Falls Into Pond In Kalahandi; Rescue Operations Underway

Kalahandi: A thirsty elephant while in search of water fell into a pond on Sunday at Kiding village under Lanjigarh block of Kalahandi district.

A herd of elephants reportedly wandered into the village last night to graze on the crops. But one of them slipped into a pond while attempting to drink water and couldn’t get out.

When the people went to attend nature’s call this morning, they spotted the elephant helplessly stuck in the pond and instantly notified Biswanathpur Range officials regarding the event.

A 4-member team from the Biswanathapur Range office then showed up and started a rescue effort. Further, a 12-member team has been summoned from Bhawanipatna to assist in the operations and rescue the tusker.

A sizable crowd gathered around the pond to see the tusker being rescued.
