Two RIs Land In Vigilance Net In Ganjam, Khurdha

Ganjam: Two Revenue Inspectors were arrested by Vigilance sleuths for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe on Wednesday.

The accused officials have been identified as Debasish Majhi, Revenue Inspector (RI) of K. Barida R.I. Circle under Kodala Tahasil in Ganjam district, and Gauranga Sabara, RI of Achutapur under Jankia police limits in Khurdha district.

According to officials, Majhi had demanded Rs 25,000 from a person for the release of his tipper. Though he had paid the fine of Rs 30,000 the RI refused to release his tipper unless a further Rs 25,000 would be paid as a bribe.

Based on the complaint, the vigilance had laid a trap and caught Majhi with the bribe money. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being launched in his residential quarter and other places.

In another case, Vigilance also apprehended, Achutapur RI, Sabara while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 8000 in order to prepare RoR of his parental property in his favor, as a legal heir.

The anti-corruption wing laid a trap and apprehended the RI while he was receiving the gratification. Further investigations are underway
