Two Sisters Drown While Bathing in Pond in Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: In a tragic incident today, two sisters drowned while bathing in a pond in Kharasahapur village, located within the Soro police jurisdiction of Balasore district, Odisha.

The victims, identified as Rajalaxmi and Bhagyalaxmi, were the daughters of one Manas Behera from Kharasahapur.

Villagers reported that the sisters went for a morning bath in the pond when they slipped and fell into the water. Efforts by family members and locals to rescue them were made swiftly and the girls were rushed to a nearby hospital in Soro in critical condition. Unfortunately, they were declared dead upon arrival by the attending doctors.

Soro police officials arrived at the scene shortly after being informed and have since taken custody of the bodies for postmortem examination.
