Two Women Meet Watery Grave In Village Pond In Kandhamal

Kandhamal: Two women drowned while bathing in a pond in Lingagad village in the G. Udayagiri area of Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Thursday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Suryakanti Pradhan and Kurumani Pradhan.

According to reports, the incident took place while the duo had gone to take bath to the village pond when Kurumani suddenly slipped into the deep water and was drowning. Suryakanti jumped into the deep water to rescue her companion. Neither of the two knew swimming and soon drowned in the pond.

Later some villagers spotted the bodies of the two women floating in the pond and informed the Fire Services department about the same.

Upon being informed, police reached the spot and initiated an investigation in this regard.
