Bhubaneswar: The Utkal University campus in Bhubaneswar faced another episode of unrest recently, raising concerns about the safety of its students. According to student allegations, unidentified outsiders entered the campus and vandalized the secretaries’ and presidents’ incumbency chart in the students’ union room. Furniture was also damaged during the incident, leading to tension on campus.
The frequent incursions of outsiders into the university campus have prompted questions regarding student safety. Students are now feeling anxious about their security.
While student elections were halted in the state this year, students continue to gather at the students’ union office to discuss various issues and make important decisions. Unfortunately, miscreants forcibly entered the room and destroyed the incumbency chart and some furniture, which has been strongly condemned by the student community.
Incidents like these have become increasingly common on the campus, and there is a growing call to put an end to such acts of hooliganism. It is imperative that the authorities take decisive measures to permanently address these issues and ensure the safety of students.
Expressing their concerns, a female student stated, “Students are not safe within the university campus. The intrusion of outsiders and the recent damage to the incumbency chart highlight the urgent need for action. If left unchecked, it may escalate to assaults on students within the hostels.”
As of now, there have been no official comments or statements from the university authorities regarding this incident.
