Woman Commits Suicide Over Smartphone In Malkangiri

Malkangiri: A woman committed suicide by consuming poison following a quarrel with her husband over a mobile phone at MPV 14 village in Malkangiri district.

The deceased has been identified as Jyoti, wife of Kanhei, a resident of MPV 14 village.

According to reports, Kanhei-Jyoti had married a year back. Soon after it, Kanai bought a smartphone for Jyoti on a monthly financial basis.

However, he had not informed Jyoti about the finance.

After the end of the installments, an employee of the finance company visited Kanhei’s house to get his signature. As Kanhei was absent, Jyoti came to know about the finance.

Following this, the duo had a verbal spat over Kanhei hiding the facts. The situation took an ugly turn and Jyoti consumed poison and collapsed on the ground.

Seeing this, Kanhei also did the same and become critical.

The family members rescued them and rushed them immediately to Malkangiri DHH where Jyoti was declared dead.

Meanwhile, Kanhei is undergoing treatment at the same hospital.

Even though no complaint was lodged in this regard, taking suo moto cognizance of the case, the police registered a case and launched an investigation.
